Welwyn Pegasus Playing Philosophy Season 2014
Welwyn Pegasus FC Vision is to create football players and help those players to stay in love with the game
Welwyn Pegasus Football Club believes in developing players to the best of their ability.
We want to create technically good players who can play through the thirds but can make the right decision at the right time. We want to develop ‘INDEPENDENT DECISION MAKERS’ i.e. players that are able to diagnose and solve problems during the ebb and flow of play. Each player will be able to make the ‘best decision’ of when to play long or short, direct and methodical or to be patient or quick.
1, Each player plays at least 50% of the game (allowing for issues such as injuries etc.)
2, We try to be more sporting than the other team (e.g. commit fewer fouls etc.)
3, We try to play creative, attractive, attacking football
4, We try to win the game – but not at the expense of points 1,2 and 3 above
•Manage the space between the lines
•Regain the ball as high as possible
•Create 2 v 1 defensive overloads
•Can we win the ball back in 6 seconds
•Keep the first two passes
•Return to team shape upon regaining possession
•18 week programme excluding pre-season
•3 x 6-week learning objectives designed around the playing thirds: defensive; middle; attacking
•Players can have a season objective, 18-week objective and a 6-week objective
•Whole / part / whole sessions
•Every player has a ball in warm up
•All sessions will be based around the four corners
•Playing in the future
Better Players: Better People
•Players to shake hands with managers / coaches before and after every training session
•Players abide by C.O.C. (positive attitude & behaviour)
•Players take responsibility for their playing equipment (e.g. clean boots)
•Players also collect balls and equipment in after each session
•All players to shake hands with the referee and opposition coaching team before and after each match
•Team captain to make himself known to the referee before the game
