Welwyn Pegasus Football club would like to announce the sad loss of Matthew Stuart Pearson, who sadly passed away in the early hours of Boxing Day morning.
Welwyn Pegasus FC has lost a star in the making, on and off, the field.
Matt joined Welwyn Pegasus half way through season 06/07, from Red Star Welwyn. And made an immediate impact to our back four in the under 12 Skys. Scoring his first Pegasus goal which was a header from a corner against top of the league Wheathampstead Wanderers,
The following season 07/08 he moved up to the Royals, where he established himself as a solid centre back. Matt was instrumental in helping the Under 13 Royals last season winning the League Cup.
Matts attitude to both training and matches was first class, and earned him the captains armband this season. Matt grew in confidence, and I believe he had the ability to go far in football, on and off the field.
Matt was also instrumental in the development of Welwyn Pegasus, helping referee games, coach the under 7s, helping out both in the coffee shop, and in both the preparation and over the weekend of the pre season tournament. He was always helpful and keen to help; he was interested in becoming a qualified referee. His love for the game was clear to all to see, Matt was an avid Spurs supporter.
I also knew Matt outside of Welwyn Pegasus. He was a unique young man, polite, courteous, helpful, respectful, appreciative, hard working, likeable, ONE OF A KIND.
We will miss you Matt.
Welwyn Pegasus Football club would like to offer any support to Matts Family at this sad time.
